Ravi Suria

 

Prior to founding Valmiki, Ravi was a portfolio manager at Moore Capital Management, LP, an international investment management firm, from 2005-2008, where he managed a $2 billion global equities portfolio spanning over three dozen countries and almost every industry sector. From 2001-2004 Ravi served as a Managing Director at Duquesne Capital where he was responsible for starting the emerging markets investments program in 2003.

Mr. Suria received a B.E. from Annamalai University, India in 1991 and an M.B.A. from Tulane in 1995, after which he began his financial services career as an analyst for Paine Webber. In 1999, he joined Lehman Brothers, where he was an analyst/Head of Convertibles until he joined Duquesne in 2001. During this time period, he received several industry accolades, including the Institutional Investor All Star Research Team in 1998 and 2000, Fortune Magazine’s All-Star Analyst in 2000 and People to Watch in 2001. Additionally, he was deemed one of the 100 Most Influential People in Technology by Crain’s in 2001 and 100 Most Influential People in Finance in 2003 by Treasury and Risk Magazine.

In his philanthropic endeavors, Ravi was a founding Trustee for the Bronx Prep Charter School (2000-2015) and a Trustee for the Bronx Defenders, holistic public defense organization (2004-2014). He also serves as an advisor to Agastya, the largest Hands-On Learning Program in the world. For the past decade, he has also taught asset management at the AB Freeman School of Business at Tulane University where he is adjunct faculty.
